It has been a non-stop stone fruit extravaganza for Divine Fruits this month! Our South Burnett Kumbia Growers have had some excellent collaborations from Casey-Lee Lyons of Live Love Nourish to Gympies Food and Culinary Tourism ambassador chef Matt Golinski. We have been busy getting to as many local fruit shops around South East Queensland to meet with green grocers and customers. Overall opinion? The customers are loving the stone fruit this season and just can’t get enough! The Granite Belt’s Traprock Region Growers were hit hard with the drought, but that hasn’t stopped them! There are more deliciously sweet peaches coming our way.

South Burnett Kumbia Growers

What a season so far! The last few weeks have seen the delightful yellow peaches harvested and the flavour is superb. Our feedback from local fruit shops is that customers are absolutely enjoying the taste! Not only as a fresh delicious snack but for cooking and baking as well! Smaller sizes of the fruit have been massively popular for school lunch boxes. Great news! There’s another week left of this season. You’ll find Kumbia stockists on our home page! Good Food & Wine Show

Australia’s popular Good Food and Wine final show for the year ended in Brisbane. What an amazing event it was! Queenslanders enjoyed a fun-filled day with delightful food and excellent wines. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with renowned chef Matt Golinski. Matt has a passion for creating cuisine using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. Last year the popular chef showcased Kumbia stone fruit and was absolutely overwhelmed with the flavour and could not wait to create more!

Matt’s good friend and also a renowned chef Alastair McLeod cooked up a storm on stage. Matt’s dish was an exquisite Greek dessert using ricotta and cinnamon honey loukoumades with grilled peach and tangelo curd cream. Flavour explosion! We loved to watch the chefs supporting several Queensland producers through their cooking. MC Miguel Maestre is one talented Spaniard! Miguel’s love of fresh, local and seasonal produce also sees him as a regular high profile Chef in the country’s top food festivals.

Getting to know the Consumer

We’ve had some great discussions with green grocers at the Brisbane Markets. Many tastings of new varieties were had at the Montague market floor. We also visited local fruit shops through-out South East Queensland. While at the stores we were fortunate to find out firsthand the customers opinion of the fresh produce. It was an absolute delight to hear they would be back at the store for more summer fruit’s. Customers truly love their green grocer as they provide a personal touch and the customer feels as though their needs are met. It’s great to know that many shopping centres are supporting the producers and fruit shops in turn.

Growers and Grocers Orchard Experience

Divine Fruits cares not only about growers and consumers, but local fruit shops as well. We have an exciting event coming up in April 2020. The Growers and Grocers Orchard Experience provides green grocers a chance to meet with growers, learn about the fruit harvest and pass on feedback and ask questions. We’re super excited as Celebrity Chef Matt Golinski will be hosting the orchard lunch showcasing Nicoletti Orchards apples. The event has been a huge success in the past and we can’t wait to bring everyone together. Check out the video from last year in Kumbia.

Traprock Regions Rosemary Hill Orchard

Rosemary Hill Orchard grower Angus Ferrier and the team have been super busy harvesting yellow nectarines and peaches. Although the drought has been really tough, the family are ecstatic with the result in quality of their produce. Natural sugar levels are high making this seasons fruit super sweet and packed with flavour. Angus’s twin sons Walter and Dougal are enjoying some quality time with Dad in the orchard and can’t get enough of the juicy stone fruit. Learn more about the Ferrier family here. Rosemary Hill Orchard are still harvesting so make sure to get your hands on some of this sweet Granite Belt region goodness!
