Ever wanted a home-made mouth-watering dessert without all of the hassle? Have we got the answer for you! For 3 generations now our family has been making this Easy Apple Strudel. Loved by all, this dessert can be put together in just a few steps!
Puff pastry (2 sheets)
6 x Nicoletti Orchard apples
8T caster sugar
½ cup icing sugar
A handful of peanuts (or nuts of choice)
Preheat oven to 190 degrees and line a tray with baking paper.
Peel apples and slice finely.
Prepare puff pastry for braiding (all you have to do is make diagonal cuts down the sides of your sheet of pastry and criss-cross them over the filling) and dust lightly with flour.
Lay sliced apples down the centre of the pastry and cover evenly with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Repeat with another layer.
Cover in a criss-cross pattern with the sides of the pastry, folding in the edges.
Combine the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the pastry with the egg mixture.
Bake for 35 minutes or until golden.
Allow the pastry to cool slightly.
Mix the icing sugar with 2 tablespoons of water and drizzle over the top of the pastry, sprinkle peanuts to decorate.
