Can you hear that crunch? We’re wrapping up Nicoletti Orchards 2018 apple harvest; don’t panic Queenslanders, they’re a year-round fruit so there’s lots more coming. Stanthorpes growers Daniel and Toni Nicoletti harvested tonnes of royal gala, Fuji, granny smith and Pink Lady™ tasty, crunchy apples and the flavours proved to be a big hit in South East Queensland. Kicking off the season was the sweet royal gala followed by the popular Fuji apple the Asian community enjoys. The sweet-tart granny smith was next and lastly, my favourite, the Pink Lady™. These crisp Granite Belt snacks were enjoyed by all in Queensland, thank you Daniel and Toni.

Zone Fresh Gourmet Markets

After the launch at Montague Fresh Brisbane Markets we headed to our friendly greengrocer Zone Fresh Gourmet Markets. The team hosted ‘Meet the Growers’ in-store giving shoppers an opportunity to talk to the growers. There were delightful royal gala apples on display and Daniel and Toni participated offering shoppers a taste test of their freshly harvested fruit. Well, it was all positive feedback from customers who vouched for that crunchiness and extra flavour and some who said that it was great to actually meet the farmers. Toni and Daniel were humbled to hear this. Thanks Zone Fresh Gourmet Markets for your support!

Fuji Offerings

When it comes to celebrations in Chinese culture, the Fuji apple is one of the highlights. Considered as a fruit that delivers good fortune, this beautiful apple is sacred and is not only included in offerings but also as part of family gifts. Welcome Fresh Food supported Nicoletti Orchards apples during the Chinese New Year celebrations displaying vibrant symbolic decorations around the fruit display and throughout the store. Sunnybank’s local Community Chinese Lion Dance Troupe delivered a spectacular cultural dance in the store and I was privileged to be offering a Fuji apple and red envelope to the Lion. Now I definitely know I’m blessed with an abundant year ahead. Other Sunnybank greengrocers Formosa Asian Supermarket and High Fresh Supermarket also supported our growers. We thank you all for your continued support.
