Queenslanders are munching on the beautiful Autumn fruits of Stanthorpe. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve enjoyed healthy and crunchy Nicoletti Orchards Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples from Daniel and Toni’s beautiful orchard in Queensland’s Granite Belt region. This year’s harvest has produced more of that crisp and juicy flavour the famous Stanthorpe apples are known for. Local fruit shops in Queensland continue to supply these year-round snacks and they tell us that shoppers are coming back for more.

If you’ve followed our grower’s stories you’ll know that the incredible Amanda, lover of wholesome foods, has again whipped up an irresistible dish. How does a healthy crunchy Autumn salad packed with chickpea, kale, Nicoletti Orchards granny smith apples and walnut sound? Too good to be true hey! Well, you’ll find this recipe on her website www.amandaswholesomekitchen.com.au. Thanks Amanda for your continued support of our Aussie growers!

A Myriad of Persimmons

Second generation grower Terry from Terry’s Sweet Persimmons is absolutely overwhelmed by this year’s crop. Terry and his wife Susan launched their new season Fuyu persimmons a couple of weeks back at Montague, Brisbane Markets. These delightful Autumn fruits taste similar to a mango-pear flavour and they’re a big hit, with greengrocers loading boxes upon boxes onto trucks ready to fill their store. We hear many stories from followers who enjoy shopping locally.

Rob and Nikkie of Harvest Markets Booval were proud to support ‘Meet the Growers’ with Terry, Susan and daughter Catherine in store. The customers absolutely delighted in chatting to the growers, many whom did not know about the difference in astringent and non-astringent varieties and others who talked about their childhood experiences. After taking the first bight customers were convinced that the flavour was excitingly different and they could not resist buying some for the family. Thanks, Rob and Nikkie for your support.

Chef Wows Patrons

We are so grateful to know that Award-winning Chef-De-Cuisine Javier Codina of Brisbane’s Moda Restaurant enjoys nothing more than creating the finest food with locally grown produce, especially Terry’s Sweet Persimmons. Javier was delighted to meet the growers and share some memorable food stories. One weekend Javier created a lunch menu seafood showstopper with slimy mackerel confit escabeche garnished with fresh Fuyu persimmons from our wonderful growers Terry’s Sweet Persimmons. It was a sell-out! Thank you, Javier and team, for showcasing our growers produce. Last weekend our trip to the Sunshine Coast was jam-packed with store visits to our greengrocer friends.

From the majestic heights of Buderim all the way up along the coastline to the fashionable Noosa Heads, fresh air and beautiful sunshine paved the way. Stay tuned as we share the trip on social media. We would like to thank you for following the grower’s stories on Facebook and Instagram and for supporting your local fruit shops!
